I'm amazed at how much progress I've made in my En Provence quilt, since I decided to kit up the blocks. In 30 minutes, I was able to stitch each row for 6 quilt blocks, or 30 rows. Each block consists of 25 smaller blocks, so this is tremendous progress for me!
On Sunday, the kids went to a movie, so I pressed my rows open, and then stitched them together by chainnpiecing. To chain piece, I started with my top 2 rows and did those for each block. I then cut the end threads, and added the 3rd row to each, and continued until I had nothing left. Only then did I start trimming my edges. When complete, I cut the threads and pressed my blocks open, row by row. Now on to kitting up the dashing units, the borders!
I have to admit,I chose to make a smaller quilt than the original. Mostly because I had too many blocks in my reject pile. There is something about QST that do not agree with me. Every single time I make these, I tell to make them 1/4" larger than needed...NEXT TIME! I always forget. With my reject blocks, I have trimmed them down to 3". I'm considering making smaller blocks for an orphan quilt or use them in the backing. I do need new pot holders, so there is another option. Only time will tell.
