A thread story

Once upon a time, about 18 months ago,  I purchased home decor fabric, curtain lining, and a spool of Aurifil thread (no affiliation to the company), to make 4 curtain panels for our master bedroom.  I honestly cringed at the splurge of purchasing a $10 spool of thread.  How did I spend $10 for just thread.  However, I read on so many online forums how wonderful this thread was.  I couldn't find one negative review.  Since this fabric purchase was a rare online fabric purchase, I bit the bullet.  By this point, what was an extra $10?

Well this past weekend, I finally ran out of thread.  This spool was never ending.  I've never had a spool last this long.  Actually, 4 months ago I had ordered another spool, because I was sure it was about to run out then.  Surprise, surprise!

I started thinking of everything I had seen with this one spool:

~4 floor to ceiling curtains with lining.
~ One Block wonder quilt blocks and rows.
~Mystery quilt row blocks together
~Borders on a Christmas quilt
~ Blanket Stitch Appliquéd 144 orange peels, braided quilt borders, and sewed the entire king size quilt top together
~36  16-patch quilt blocks
~232 hst star points
~40 string blocks
1 pillow case.

One thing to note about string blocks, they use up a lot of thread.  Looking back at all my projects, I am a believer.  I couldn't believe how much I have accomplished with 1 spool.  Usually, I used 2-3 spools on just a single project.  I'm fairly convinced that this thread grows each night.

My current quilting update.  I cut out all my pieces for my scrappy star quilt.  I have finished 5 star blocks.  I have also ripped telephone pages from my string blocks.  I save this for my nap time project, since I can't really sew, but I can rip paper.  I have also been out job hunting.  I'm hoping 2016 is my year for a real teaching job.
