I cannot believe it has been a month since I last posted. Anyways, I'm sitting here thinking that I really want to quilt, but I cannot make a mess. My youngest is having a pool party this weekend, and I had to put it all away. To top it off, I need to use my sewing table for the birthday party. I still need to clean that off, but I'm advocating for a new table. Especially, the kid size table that would look awesome in a classroom. Here's where April has gone:
April 1st, I finally ordered my half hexagons ruler. I also ordered some Kona Nightfall, a charm pack, and for a free pattern. I have no clue what to do with the last 2 items, but I have them. The charm pack was actually a quarter, and what was 25 cents in the whole scheme of things? I spent that entire week cutting triangles for the star points., and sewing string blocks. I was nervous about this color of Nightfall, and if it was too dark. When I opened the box, I fell in love! It was absolutely beautiful, like the night sky. I want to push the king size aside and get started on this one instead.
When the half hexagon ruler arrived, I immediately started cutting trapezoids, and searching for fabric. I'm still looking for a couple yellows to balance it out. I struggled with my rotary cutter and had to order new blades. I found an amazing deal on Olfa blades. A 10-pack for $17. There is nothing better than a new blade in the rotary cutter!
Tnow, I bring us to this past week. I like to call it birthday week. My house is in complete chaos. 2/5 of the house caught the stomach bug. I blame my husband. I work in a daycare and schools, so I should have been the person to bring it home. Nope. Not was my husband. I left the house that Saturday, and sort of bought 13 yards of fabric. DOH! I only spent $31, including the cost of fondant and cake coloring. Tuesday, my youngest caught it. At 3:30am, I am bleaching the counters, chairs, door knobs, and light switches. The next day, I bleached the house. There is no way is anyone else catching this thing. It has been 3 years since this virus has last been in our home. By the way, bleach is the only thing that kills norovirus, and is the only cleaning agent in my home. So far, no one else has caught it, and hopefully, it stays that way.
I need to get back to decorating for the party, and shopping. Summer is approaching, so I should have ample time to quilt very soon.
