February came in like a lion, and I am here for the ride. I'm not sure where I am going, but I was up for the adventure.
First, my old preschool called. Two teachers put in their notice to leave, only to quite less than 24 hours later. A class was left without a teacher. I used to teach the "wonderful ones" class, and left to persue a teaching career in the public school system. Those 12 kids are my babies, and I would do anything for them. I couldn't imagine them losing 4 teachers since January, and the parents are not happy. I offered to take the class for a few weeks until they found new teachers. I am only a substitute in the school system, so I have the flexibility to help out. After 2 weeks, they have found 2 new teachers. I have been trying to train one of the teachers, but sometimes it is a head shaking scenario. It is hard to train someone that is argumentative, and questions everything. Working in a preschool leaves me exhausted with no free time. I wake up each morning at 6am, and I don't get home until 6pm. Somewhere in that time, I'm supposed to make dinner, clean and do laundry. It is a very busy, but fulfilling job.
Then, in the middle of the month Valentine's Day came. I lost my kid's Valentine's Day candy. I am almost certain they were snooping and just took it. They have a bad habit. I also helped make their boxes the night before their party, because they waited until 5:30 to inform me that they needed boxes. Some time during Valentine's Day I came down with a sinus infection and cold. I am trying to hard to fight it, but all the illnesses in preschool have hit me hard.
Then, we had cub scout night! We learned how to dust and collect fingerprints at the sheriff's office! We also had to prepare a healthy snack that doesn't contain peanuts or peanut butter. My child only eats peanut butter, so this was a challenge. I settled on Chex Mix, because it is easy to alter the recipe to keep it peanut free. It is also Pinewood Derby month, so we have been busy making the cars. I am quite competitive for these races.
On the quilting front, I finished 6 orange string blocks for the rainbow quilt! I also managed to finish all the blocks for the Orange Peel quilt. I also separated all the blocks into 4 groups, equally distributing the colors and prints, and have been assembling the quilt in quadrants. Here is what I have finished so far. Please excuse the wrinkles. The only place I have to store it, is draped over a keyboard stand. It keeps the cats and kids away from it. Next time, I iron it, I will starch the blocks.
