Weekly update

This week has been a week full of substituting, so I haven't had a lot of time to quilt.  However, I still made a little time for quilting.

First, I have 6 string blocks. I am not trimming the blocks until I am certain of my project.  I am fairly certain that this will be a rainbow quilt. I started several blocks last year in red, green, and orange.  I'm slowly making my way through the scraps.

Next, I have half a lantern block.  Sadly this half of a block took me an entire afternoon.  I tried several different methods, which would be easy, but the blocks came out wonky.  My method, was to make 2" trapezoids, and then stitch 2" white strips to the sides and then trim.  Not very efficient, but at least my blocks came out perfect.  I am going to hold off on this quilt until I get my Orange Peel quilt top completed.

Finally, I spent one evening digging in my basket and found these 2" strips/future 2" strips. My plan is to either make a Jacob's Ladder variation, or a 16 patch star quilt that I had found on Missouri Star Quilt Co. I have wanted to make a Sister's choice for years, so maybe a variation of that quilt.

I also wanted to give an update on my Orange Peel quilt.

I have 45 completed blocks!!  I also have 32 ready to be ironed on to the background fabric and tacked down.    In total that is 77 out of 144 blocks!  Quite excited to be making progress! I am doing this quilt row by row.

I am hoping with this fabulous 3 day weekend, that I can get a lot more quilting done, inbetween cleaning and laundry.

Happy Quilting!

Leslie
