I spent a majority of my week measuring my bed/mattress, consulting quilt size charts, and refiguring my Orange Peel Quilt. I have figured that I can remove 2 rows, and still have the quilt fit my bed. I have also considered adding a teal, so the yellow doesn't look like the third wheel. I am feeling the burnout of making these blocks, mostly from over thinking the design. I now only have 21 orange peels left to cut out of fabric. I also took some time to lay out some of my blocks. On a side note, since taking these pictures, the single orange peels have been attached to the muslin squares. As a side note, the quilt will now be a 10x12 grid.
So, I have Option A:
So, I have Option A:
I love the controlled look of this quilt. I love the yellow. However, I don't love the yellow as lines. I was hoping there was a way to get the yellow to intersect. Now I am wondering about making yellow and grey "orange blossoms" and have the navy blue as "lattice" lines.
Then, came a "NOPE!"
Finally, I made 5 more blocks from the laundry basket of scraps.
While making these blocks, I have come across multi-colored string blocks like these, and some string triangles from other quilts. If I remember, I'll post a before and current picture of the basket, along with my findings. I have also been adding fabric to the basket from the Orange Peel quilt.
While I know this does not look like much quilting, I did have quite a bit of sewing to do this week. I had to fix a seam on my husband's pants, and then I had to sew patches on cub scout uniforms. On one uniform I had to unstitch all the patches from a hand me down uniform. Let me just say I was excited to break into my Gutermann 26 spool thread box that I received for Christmas. Honestly, cub scout uniform is the main reason I wanted the the spool box, and the threads matched the patches so well, that one cannot see the sewing machine stitches.
