A Whole Lot of Nothing!

That about sums up my week.  I honestly didn't get to do any quilting this past week. Maybe a little, but not enough to write home about. I'm not sure where this week went, but I was so busy that I barely had time to sit down with my machine.

On Sunday, I made this for our ladder set.  My husband was tired of the Christmas one that has been greeting all of our neighbors.  One neighbor still has a full size Santa figure by their front door.  At least someone is on the same page as me!  I also had a sick child, which made the day even crazier.

Monday: I was able to turn out 10 orange peels during nap time!  I live in an area of Florida that deems itself as "artsy".  Artsy is not the same as crafty. I honestly became annoyed when a lady my age started asking questions.  The questions started off normal...."What are you making?"  A king size quilt for my bed. Then came in the serious confusion as I showed her pictures..."Why would you want to make that?  Can't you just buy that from the store?" Sigh.  One thing I miss about Utah, is that people never asked ridiculous questions like the last 2. They would usually praise, or offer some helpful hints/suggestions.  But this is a completely different world.  I hate feeling judged. I always feel like an outsider. Anyways, that night I came home and my legs felt like they were going to collapse from under me, while I fixed dinner.  I rarely get pain like this, but I barely had a chance to sit down all day.

Tuesday was a complete blur. I think I might have traced and cut out some orange peels, then sewed them to interfacing.

Wednesday: It rained.  I subbed at my son's school.  Wednesday nights are our super busy night, since it is scout night.  This night was special, in that my son earned his whittling badge and pocket knife!! This is also the night that we found out I have to write out 3 of my 3rd grader's favorite recipes. I never realized just how picky of an eater he was until now.  So far we have Breakfast Burritos, and Swordfish with Cilantro Lime Butter.

Thursday: The return of BLUE BELL ICE CREAM!!  I got "stuck" behind the truck on my way to my sub job.  On our way home, we stopped at the Publix that the truck had turned into during the morning, and bought 2 tubs.  Some Floridians couldn't understand why people were so excited for this ice cream.  They think everything with the Publix logo is a sacred.  I suppose it is their loss.

Friday: I worked with 4 year olds and toddlers.  I kept thinking how funny it was that Thursday I was teaching 5th graders.  I guess being a chameleon is just part of the substitute job description.   I left work late, and my kids had movie night that their school.  It was quite a busy day.  I had the opportunity to sit down and sew, but I didn't want to lose track of time, since I had to go pick them up.

Today is Saturday.  I'm working on cleaning and laundry for the morning.  My goal is to work on a pile of quilting stuff I have been putting next to my machine all week.
